Admission Requirements

Strawberry Patch Village has been constructed through a government program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Because of this, applicants must be either elderly or mobility impaired and have a low or moderate income.

Specifically, you may be eligible for Strawberry Patch Village if:

1). You are 62 years of age or older. If you are a two person household (for example, a         married couple) only one member has to be 62 years or older.

2). You are physically disabled, regardless of age.  To be qualified as physically disabled,   you must have a physical impairment of a long or indefinite duration requiring a unit designed for the mobility impaired.

3). Income includes all monies received from wages, pensions, social security, welfare,           unemployment compensation, alimony and other sources normally counted as income. Interest and dividends, stocks or bonds are considered income.  Other assets which do not produce income are not counted. Excessive medical expenses may also be deducted.

If you are determined eligible for Strawberry Patch Village, your rent will be based on your income. You will pay no more than 30% of your adjusted income. For example, if your monthly adjusted income is $500.00, your monthly cost is $150.00. A utility allowance for tenant-paid electric will be deducted from this monthly cost and the remainder would be your monthly rent.  The tenant must also pay telephone and telephone cable. Subsides are available through the Department of Housing and Urban Development to make up the difference between the amount you are required to pay and the actual cost for the apartment.
